When you think of college what do you think of? Do you think about fun, parties, teachers, homework, or the education? I thought about all of these things when I decided that my number one college I want to go to is Stanford University in California. I feel it will be so much fun yet a very nice learning experience. It would be a dream come true to attend there. I feel that it would be a perfect balance of fun and education. My only scare is that i may not be able to handle it all, but I will try.
Carallena’s, Taylor’s, and Dorsey’s blogs, I didn’t make them too long and I gave honest feedback in a kind way. I also commented on the article ,"What Did You Once Hate but Now Like?" I just ask that everyone follows my rules like I follow the rules of the articles/posts I comment on.
I do have rules for my blog; they are posted on my sidebar if you have not noticed. I have rules because some people may not know the impact their words may have on me or anyone that reads my blogs or they just may not care. Before making my rules I read and listened to, “The Top 10 Reasons We Deleted Your Comment” and “From Commenter to Columnist: The Atlantic’s ‘Cynics’,” they enlightened me on why professional blogs or online news companies delete so many posts a day .To me it basically gave me logical reasons to delete peoples post on my blog. It discusses how if a person writes too much or curses on posts it drives other users away from reading my blog. It also gave me tips on when I am commenting on someone else’s blog. For example the way I commented on I also went to huffingpost.com where I read an article about these women stranding up to a government because they had been beaten in a prison and were told to be quiet about it. Seems to be a sad story, but as I got to the comments people were disagreeing about their thoughts on the article. For example one comment hinted to me the person that made the comment didn’t believe that the events didn’t take place. In fact, there were other comments suggesting the same thing and other people would just get upset because of how some people feel about those ladies situation. Arguing on a news blog in my opinion just makes a person seem like they have nothing positive to do and it can make them look so ignorant. The text “Dating Your Mom,” is a satire. The text shows sarcasm and makes fun of a family’s love and how people treat their mother, for example he talks about looking your mother in the eyes and telling her she is beautiful. The story is also a large hyperbole it exaggerates your connection with your mother and what seeing your mother as beautiful and outgoing really is. Reading it may make some people squirm because it sounds inappropriate but that is what satires do. They make you feel a certain type of way which just may be disgust. I did not really laugh at this story but I did let go a chuckle once or twice.
When I looked my name up, not much came up about me,
which is good and bad.All I noticed was my old facebook that I never deleted. It’s good because you can’t see anything negative, but it’s bad because you can’t see all the positive I have done. I’m not rushing that though because in my future I plan to do amazing things. As of now there is really nothing about me. When colleges start to look me up, however, if they find me I hope they see what good I have done so far. I hope they see that I am a leader and I achieve goals. I want them to see that I am witty and at times funny but most off all I want them to see that I try and I always strive for success no matter what anyone says. In, “College prospects are being watched on Facebook and Twitter” and “37 Percent Of Employers Use Facebook To Pre-Screen Applicants, New Study Says” I could somewhat relate. I get exactly what they were saying. They were basically saying that colleges and jobs are looking at what we put on social media and do judge us off of it. I don’t feel it be wrong because social media tells you a lot about you. Like how in “This Is How A Woman’s Offensive Tweet Became The World’s Top Story” told that woman to be very rude and offensive and it lost her a lot of job opportunities. This is something I never wish to happen ,it would probably shatter my soul. Just the thought of being turned away from a wonderful opportunity because of something ignorant I may have said on a bad day. |
